We bought our first home! I can’t believe I just typed those words. We certainly don’t take this privilege lightly. It’s been a prayer of ours for a long time and in this real estate market, it certainly felt like divine intervention (oh, and we highly recommend that you hire Mary Helen Davis). Our vision is to make this a place with open doors for all, and where I can be unafraid to dream and play in the world of residential design.
I spend my 9-5 days designing hotels and Kyle is in alcohol sales, which we feel makes us the perfect guinea pigs for home renovation and DIY. Because when I have crazy ideas that fail (yes, WHEN), there will always be wine!
This website was truly my twin brother’s idea, but now we absolutely love the idea of sharing what we learn along the way. I promise to share the REAL process – the challenges, tears, budgets and grand reveals. Thank God I married someone hopelessly optimistic, because I’m not naïve – we’re going to need it.
Here’s a little sneak peak, straight from the Zillow/Realtor since we haven’t had the chance to take any photos of our own!
The house was built in 1941, and it has incredible character, but that goodness doesn’t come without a few quirks. First on our list is to get all the interior walls white for a blank slate and to completely demo the 2nd floor (ourselves – PRAY FOR US). But also – is there anything sexier than your husband with a sledgehammer?
We also have someone lined up to help us stain the floors to something a little sleeker before we move in – more on that soon.
This home is already beautiful in it’s own right, but I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, a home should tell the story of you. It’s a curation (one that takes TIME) and we are in no rush, but the joy and excitement we all feel (yes, Calvin too) about slowly making this house our home is palpable.
Stay tuned!
I AM SO EXCITED to follow this journey!! And to be a guest in this beautiful home 🙂 I know y’all are going to do amazing things and I can’t wait to cheer you on!!
